This morning over breakfast my son Michael was thinking about the possibility that the University of California at Berkeley might honor PFC Bradley Manning for turning over hundreds of thousands of documents and videos to Wikileaks and it's sex-crazed founder Julian Assange. Are you freaking kidding me? Manning is a disgrace to anyone who has ever worn the uniform, ever said the pledge of allegiance or ever took a breath of air. He is everything I never want my children to be and let's just be clear what this "hero" did:
He stole confidential, classified and secret documents and videos from the United States of America and, even through he no idea what they contained, turned them over to an International criminal for distribution online. This idiot didn't care what damage or who's lives would be lost, he transferred every document he could get his filthy hands on. I've uploaded the charge sheet against Bradley Manning, read it. The real danger here is that this guy didn't know what he was sending and did it with pure fame in mind. He had to know he'd be caught, didn't try to disguise his actions and even boasted about it online. There is no debating guilt here and as defined by Websters a traitor is:
1. a person who betrays another, a cause, or any trust.
2. a person who commits treason by betraying his or her country.
So, Cal Berkeley maybe you want to cater the last meal to PFC Manning? If you need a volunteer to put the sodium thiopental into his veins just let me know...
